The Colony

Mandalay Beach Road

The Shores features one of the most desirable beach areas. Very quiet and private with the largest lots available in the beach area. Typically the lot size runs 40 x 100 allowing for a small back yard.  With Beach front homes and large luxurious "inboard" properties built from the 1960's to the present. Mixed use streets are also part of the environment: Apartments, Condos and Townhomes. A small strip mall also provides some basics for the area and the new Von's Seabridge Shopping Center is only 1/2 mile away.

The destination, with numerous restaurants and shops and the location, with the beach on one side and the Harbor on the other, makes for a great place to live. Lot size is small, about 35 x 70, so no backyard. Single family houses for sale, in short supply these days, range from beach front to "inboard" properties including some unique homes going back to the 1920's. Harbor Walk is a large expansive residential development of condos and townhomes. Built in the 1970's, it has been well cared for and upgraded. The floor plans run a wide path: small units with a carport to townhomes with a full garage. Harbor Walk condos are in short supply, but units come up regularly.  This beach became a "get-a-way" for numerous celebrities through the years, thus the name, "Hollywood".

A bit more affordable than the other beach areas with generally smaller lot size, typically about 2500 square feet or 25 x 70 or 35x70. The Strand runs from the mouth of the Harbor south with beach front homes and smaller, affordable single family home for sale as well.  A "real" beach community with hangouts like "Big Daddy O's BBQ", surfers & a broad open beach. A great place to have a vacation home or just wonderful, unpretentious full time beach living.

Hueneme Beach with Affordable Condos along Surfside Drive

Five condo complexes, built in the 1970's and 1980's offer over 1200 affordable beach homes, either as weekend getaways or full time homes.

 Surfside I Main Pool

Of the five condo complexes, four feature apartment size floor plans, just under 1000 square feet, offering 1, 2 or 3 bedroom versions on one or two stories. Other floor plans are available, but far fewer are available. Surfside IV offers larger floor plans and generally a more upscale setting.

Some condos are geared more toward an "older" occupant, not age restricted (retirement) but just seem to attract mature adults. One complex, Surfside III seems to be kid friendly, with large green belts and play areas.

 In and around the beach area are single family homes, newer affordable house for sale and new townhouses for sale.
