Age 55 communities in Oxnard & Port Hueneme

Overview

You don't have to be 55 years of age to enjoy the mild climate, numerous golf courses and excellent healthcare facilities here in western Ventura County.  So non-age restricted communities are plentiful and offer the mature homeowner quiet privacy. The Beaches are broad & open with two fishing piers in the area. Mandalay Beach and the Channel Islands Harbor  are uncrowded, quiet and peaceful. The Channel Islands Harbor offers the Maritime Museum and numerous shops & restaurants. The inland portion of western Ventura County is diverse with wonderful opportunities from Golf course houses for sale, gated developments to lovely condos.  Ventura Harbor Village is a lovely destination filled with shops and restaurants.  Ventura Harbor is home to the Channel Islands National Park. Hueneme Beach offers affordable beach area living with elevators and one level condo homes in gated communities.

In my opinion, the term "Senior" is an odd reference to older Americans and even more confusing is the term "middle age". The last time I was a "Senior" was in school and I don't know of a consistent definition of "middle age". I prefer to use the term "Retirement" in reference to age. To me it means, one may not be retired, but enjoys the casual relaxed freedom the the word implies.

I suppose health issues affect a persons life style and I know people of all ages that cannot navigate stairs and octogenarians that climb stairs every day. The quiet enjoyment of one's home is what most families and individuals really want and Oxnard, Port Hueneme and the Channel Islands Harbor offer that very thing.................quiet enjoyment.

Retirement Living

A pleasant 55 community for independent seniors, Hueneme Bay in Port Hueneme features attached homes and a variety of floor plans starting under $200,000. A short walk to shopping and banking, Dial A Ride assisted door to door transportation is available for the entire beach area.

Leisure Village in Camarillo is a large 55 community with an abundance of facilities and activities.  Prices start under $200,000 with a variety of floor plans.

Luxury Retirement Living

 

Channel Islands harbor is home to Harbour Island Townhomes, all on one level, with elevators, these luxury homes sell for about $700,000 and up. Another excellent choice, The Colony at Mandalay Beach offers single level townhomes starting under $400,000 and the new Marina expansion offers WhiteSails and other unlimited opportunities for retirement living. Although not age restricted, these complexes tend to attract middle aged and mature residents.
